Big Curry Night In, 26 February 2021

Join us for a virtual Indian extravaganza that is second to naan!

With Covid-19 restrictions limiting our opportunities to eat out, let us bring a taste of India to you and your family with our virtual curry night event this February.

Many of you know that each February we usually host our much-loved Scrummy Mummy curry night and bring together local women from across the community. The tradition started back in 2007 when Fiona Devine, mother of Alexander Devine and charity founder, held her first Scrummy Mummy curry night to remember her son, serving a homemade curry to local supporters in the hall of Alexander’s school.

This year would have been our 12th Scrummy Mummy curry night, but rather than cancel the tradition we have decided to go virtual!

So please do join us for some great Indian themed food, music and activities from the comfort and safety of your own home, all to support our children’s hospice service.

Your Big Curry Night In kit

The Big Curry Night In kit (which serves 4 people) costs £12.50 (plus £2.50 postage and packaging). If you are cooking for a larger family, additional spices can be purchased during registration.

Your kit will contain:

  • Recipe cards to cook Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Gobi Tray Bake, Chickpea Curry and Alexander’s Granny’s Trifle
  • Paste pots and dried spices for all the Indian recipes
  • Fun activities for the family to do at home
  • Links to suggested playlists to help create an authentic Indian experience

Your family could be a winner!

During the registration process, you will also get the chance to purchase raffle tickets to win a fabulous Family Hamper. Packed full of awesome goodies, all proceeds from the sale of the tickets will go towards our vital work.

NB: Order your kit by Tuesday 23rd February to ensure delivery by Friday 26th February

Let’s share the fun!

Once you have purchased your kit, we would love you to join our Facebook Group so we can bring everyone together and share the excitement as we prepare for Friday 26th February.

Host your own Big Curry Night In

If you can’t make it on the 26th February and want to host your own Big Curry Night In, no problem! We would still love to see your photos so please do share them with by tagging us on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or Twitter. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #DevineCurryNight

And finally, a big thank you to our sponsors

To help us raise as much money as we can from this event, we are very thankful to the support of AB World Foods and Tesco for providing all the spices for our kits. We are also very grateful to But First, Cocktails for providing vouchers for all our supporters and donating a brilliant cocktail hamper for the raffle.

Need our help?

The word hospice should not seem scary and getting support from us doesn’t have to mean a child’s death is imminent. Helping to enrich the lives of the children and their families is at the heart of our service, our end of life and bereavement support is just a part of what we do.

Our children’s hospice service covers the whole of Berkshire and the surrounding counties. Anyone can make a referral to Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service and if you think your child may be eligible for our services, please do get in touch.
