Write Your Will Week, 14-18 October 2024

Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service is proud to announce the launch of its Write Your Will Week on Monday 14th, running until close of business on Friday 18th October 2024.

In partnership with NE Family Law, the hospice service invites the public to take advantage of this special opportunity to write or amend their Will for free. In return, participants are asked to make a donation to support the vital work of the hospice service in caring for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

Madeline Harris, a legal expert at NE Family Law, explains how simple the process is:

“As we navigate through life, we begin to think about the future and planning for our loved ones. One crucial aspect of this planning is creating a Will, but many people delay or overlook writing it. Contrary to common misconceptions, writing a Will can be a straightforward process, and we will guide you through each step to ensure your wishes are clearly articulated and legally binding.”

She further added, “Few realise that a Will can also be a powerful tool for supporting charitable causes, such as your local children’s hospice service.”

Write Your Will Week offers participants the chance to make sure their affairs are in order while also helping to fund the care that Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service provides to children and their families. Every penny raised through donations for this service will go directly towards ensuring that families in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and surrounding areas receive the essential care and support they need.

Jenni Green, Lead for Trusts and Supporter Engagement at Alexander Devine, expressed the charity’s gratitude to NE Family Law for their support:

“We are delighted to have NE Family Law joining us for this Write Your Will Week in October, and we’re so grateful for their generosity. Every penny donated will help make sure that local children with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, and their families, get the support they need from us.”

She added, “As a charity, we rely heavily on the kindness of those across our community, as 76% of our income comes from fundraising, donations, and Gifts in Wills. Every gift made to Alexander Devine, whatever size, can make such a positive difference to those we support.”

By taking part in Write Your Will Week, not only will you secure peace of mind for yourself and your loved ones, but you’ll also be making a lasting contribution to children’s palliative care. Your donation will help Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service continue to provide essential services, from respite care to therapy and emotional support for families during the most challenging times of their lives.

Monday 14th to Friday 18th October is Write Your Will Week at Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service in association with NE Law in Windsor.

Need our help?

The word hospice should not seem scary and getting support from us doesn’t have to mean a child’s death is imminent. Helping to enrich the lives of the children and their families is at the heart of our service, our end of life and bereavement support is just a part of what we do.

Our children’s hospice service covers the whole of Berkshire and into surrounding counties. If you think your child may be eligible for our services, please do get in touch.
