Sky is the limit
Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service is encouraging its thrill-seeking supporters to jump from 10,000 feet on Saturday 11th May 2019 in order to raise money for local children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families.
Devine Daredevils tandem skydive challenge will be taking place in Ipsden, Oxfordshire, just 45 minutes from Maidenhead and 20 minutes north of Reading. There are limited places available and among those already signed up is George Torpey, a Community Fundraiser at Alexander Devine.
‘Torpedo Torpey’, as he is now affectionately known within the hospice, said:
“It is not something I have previously thought about doing, but when the opportunity came up, it was something I didn’t want to miss out on! I am definitely stepping out of my comfort zone but it will be worth it if I can raise lots of money for all the amazing children and their families that we support. Hopefully thinking of the challenges they face every day will help curb my nerves!”
Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice is asking those wanting to take part to pay a £50 deposit and raise a minimum of £395 sponsorship, which includes the cost of the jump.
Susie Knowles, Community Fundraiser and organiser, praised those who have already signed up and urged others not to miss out:
“This is an amazing opportunity to not only tick something off your bucket list and at the same time raise money for such a worthwhile local charity. Every day our hospice service supports and cares for incredibly brave children and families, can you be brave for just a short time to show your support for them?”
She added, “Participants will feel the adrenaline as they jump from minimum 10,000ft. Experiencing freefalling for up to 40 seconds, then enjoying the views under canopy for 5 whole minutes. An experience you will never forget”

Need our help?
The word hospice should not seem scary and getting support from us doesn’t have to mean a child’s death is imminent. Helping to enrich the lives of the children and their families is at the heart of our service, our end of life and bereavement support is just a part of what we do.
Our children’s hospice service covers the whole of Berkshire and into surrounding counties. If you think your child may be eligible for our services, please do get in touch.
