Join Us for Our Next Book and Halloween Stall from 24th October!

We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Book and Halloween Stall, taking place from Thursday 24th October to Saturday 26th October 2024 in the Nicholson’s Centre in Maidenhead. It’s the perfect chance to pick up some Halloween treats, costumes, and spooky reads just in time for the big day!

Run entirely by our amazing volunteers, led by the Maidenhead Fundraising Group under the wonderful Helen and Richard Johnson, this event promises a wide selection of books, decorations, and more – all with a Halloween twist. Whether you’re looking to get into the festive spirit or simply enjoy browsing for a good cause, there will be something for everyone.

This is the Maidenhead Fundraising Group’s final book stall event of the year, after several successful events in the past 12 months. The Maidenhead Fundraising Group’s flagship event, the Christmas Popup Shop – also in the Nicholson’s Centre – is opening on Thursday 7th November 2024.

Mark your calendars. The store will include books, toys and games, bikes, electrical items, action figures, activities and everything in between. It represents your chance to grab a bargain in the run up to Christmas. More on this to follow.

We recently reported on the success of their summer shop.

The dedication and hard work of our volunteers, who gave up their time to set up and run the event, were key to this incredible result. The team, based at our hub in Cedar Court, Grove Business Park, accept donations and meticulously test and clean them before they are used at our events – jigsaws are completed to ensure all the pieces are there, batteries are replaced to make sure they work properly for their new home and bikes and scooters are serviced.

We couldn’t be prouder of the team who make these events happen, and to give you an idea of just how successful these book stalls are, last month’s sale raised nearly £1,000 in three days!

Now, with the next stall just around the corner, they’re hoping to build on that success. Your visit to the stall doesn’t just mean taking home a great book or Halloween goody – it means supporting life-limited children and their families. Every purchase helps us continue to provide essential care and support for those who need it most.

Helen, Richard, and their group created a warm and inviting atmosphere, and their commitment to raising vital funds for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service continues to amaze us. Thank you for everything you do for our cause.

So why not come along, support your local hospice, and get yourself into the Halloween spirit? With the event just one week away, now’s the perfect time to plan your visit. We can’t wait to see you there and, with the help of our incredible volunteers, make this next stall even more successful than the last.

Save the dates: Thursday 24th October to Saturday 26th October.

Your support really does make all the difference!

If you would like to help support the toy sale with donations, or would like to help support the Christmas shop with either donations, funds or volunteer hours, please contact Richard Johnson at richardj@alexanderdevine.org

Need our help?

The word hospice should not seem scary and getting support from us doesn’t have to mean a child’s death is imminent. Helping to enrich the lives of the children and their families is at the heart of our service, our end of life and bereavement support is just a part of what we do.

Our children’s hospice service covers the whole of Berkshire and into surrounding counties. If you think your child may be eligible for our services, please do get in touch.
