A Festive Triumph: Christmas Pop Up Shop Raises an Incredible £21,300!
As the festive season sparkled with joy and generosity, we are thrilled to celebrate an amazing achievement for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service.
Thanks to the overwhelming support of our wonderful community, our Christmas Toy Popup Shop raised an extraordinary £21,300 in just six weeks!
From Thursday 7th November to Saturday 14th December 2024, our shop – located in Maidenhead’s Nicholson Centre – buzzed with excitement. Open from 9:30am to 4:30pm every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, it quickly became a beloved destination for families searching for perfect Christmas gifts, while making a meaningful difference to the lives of the children and families we care for.
A Community Effort to Remember
The success of our Christmas Toy Popup Shop would not have been possible without the dedication, hard work, and heart of so many incredible people. At the forefront were Richard and Helen Johnson, who head up the Maidenhead Fundraising Group. Their passion and commitment to Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service is truly remarkable, and we are so grateful for their leadership and tireless efforts to make the shop such a success.
Of course, this achievement was a true team effort, and we want to say an enormous thank you to every single volunteer who played their part. From those who collected and tested toys, to the careful pricing, stacking shelves, and warmly serving our customers, you are the backbone of this incredible success. Your dedication, time, and kindness have made a huge difference, and we simply couldn’t have done it without you.
Turning Toys into Joy
Every toy sold, every penny raised, brings us closer to providing vital care and support for babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life threatening conditions, as well as their families. The £21,300 raised over the last six weeks will help fund the specialist care that makes such a profound difference. From our respite care and play therapy to music, hydrotherapy, and sibling support, this money will go a long way in ensuring families receive the care they need, when they need it most.
The shop was not just a fundraising success but a joyful hub of the community. Many families shared how much they loved browsing through the beautifully displayed toys, discovering treasures perfect for Christmas morning. The warm atmosphere created by our volunteers made every visit special, and it was wonderful to see so many smiles, festive cheer, and excited little shoppers!
Thank You for Your Support
None of this would have been possible without the incredible generosity of our supporters and the local community. From those who donated toys to everyone who visited the shop and made a purchase, your support means so much to us. By choosing to shop with us, you have not only picked up gifts for loved ones at a great price but also given the gift of care, comfort, and joy to the children and families we support.
We would also like to extend a huge thank you to all those who spread the word about our Toy Popup Shop. From sharing it with friends and family to posting about it on social media, your enthusiasm helped make this campaign such a success.
Looking Back with Gratitude, Looking Ahead with Hope
As we reflect on the closing of our Toy Popup Shop for the final time on Saturday 14th December, we do so with immense pride and gratitude. Raising £21,300 in just six weeks is an incredible testament to the power of community, teamwork, and shared purpose.
While the shop may have closed its doors, the impact of your support will continue to be felt far and wide.
Every pound raised helps us continue our mission to provide vital care for families across Berkshire and the surrounding areas.
From all of us at Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service, thank you for making this Christmas truly magical. Together, we are helping to create precious moments and memories for the extraordinary families we support.
Wishing you all a joyful and peaceful Christmas, and a heartfelt thank you once again for your incredible kindness and generosity.
