Alexander Devine welcomes Alex Pettyfer to the Hospice
We were thrilled to welcome none other than Alex Pettyfer to Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service this week. Known for his roles in Hollywood blockbusters such as Magic Mike, I Am Number Four, and the Stormbreaker series, Alex took time out of his busy schedule to visit our hospice and share the inspiring story behind his recent fundraising feat.
On October 20, 2024, Alex took on the challenge of the Rome Half Marathon, running 13.1 miles through the historic streets of Italy’s capital. Not only did he complete the race, but he also raised an incredible total, which sits at just over £2,000 to support the vital work we do at Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service.

During his visit, Alex spoke with our team about the highs and lows of his half marathon journey. “It was an amazing experience,” he said. “The atmosphere in Rome was electric and knowing that I was running to support Alexander Devine kept me motivated every step of the way. I’m so inspired by the incredible work you do here, and it was a privilege to be able to contribute in this way.”
Alex also brought along a very special keepsake from his adventure – his signed half marathon medal. In a generous gesture, he donated the medal to the hospice as a token of his support and to commemorate his achievement.
While visiting, Alex very generously took the time to meet some of our team members and talk about his upcoming projects. His warmth and genuine interest in our work left a lasting impression on everyone he spoke with.
“We are so grateful to Alex for his incredible efforts in Rome and delighted he took the time to come and visit us,” said Fiona Devine, CEO and Founder of Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service. “His support means the world to us, and it’s wonderful to know that someone with his platform is helping to shine a spotlight on the importance of children’s hospice care.”
From all of us at Alexander Devine, thank you, Alex, for running the extra mile – both in Rome and here at our hospice. Your support truly makes a difference in the lives of the children and families we care for.
Need our help?
The word hospice should not seem scary and getting support from us doesn’t have to mean a child’s death is imminent. Helping to enrich the lives of the children and their families is at the heart of our service, our end of life and bereavement support is just a part of what we do.
Our children’s hospice service covers the whole of Berkshire and into surrounding counties. If you think your child may be eligible for our services, please do get in touch.
