A Heartfelt Thank You to Simon Gent and Globe Air Cargo

At Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service, we are always amazed by the incredible support and generosity of our community. Today, we want to shine a spotlight on Simon Gent, Operations Manager for Globe Air Cargo, and his team for their remarkable kindness and efforts.

Globe Air Cargo, part of the ECS Group, played a crucial role in supporting the England Women’s U17 football team during their journey to the U18 World Cup in the Dominican Republic in November 2024.

The team, who represented our country with great pride and determination, faced tough competition on the world stage. They progressed to the semi-finals but were narrowly defeated by Spain, who went on to lose the final to Korea DPR in a tense penalty shootout. In the 3rd place playoff, the USA team proved strong opponents, leaving the England team just outside medal contention.

Despite the outcome, the team’s participation in such a prestigious tournament was an incredible achievement, and Globe Air Cargo were instrumental in making it happen. They ensured all the team’s kit and equipment were transported seamlessly to and from the Dominican Republic, providing vital logistical support. Simon and his team went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly, showcasing the dedication and excellence that Globe Air Cargo is known for.

Upon the team’s return, Globe Air Cargo were presented with a signed England Women’s U17 football shirt as a gesture of thanks for their invaluable assistance. Rather than keeping this memento, Simon and his team had the shirt professionally framed and generously donated it to Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service to help raise funds for the children and families we care for.

This incredible gesture means so much to us, and we are excited to announce that this special piece of football memorabilia will soon be raffled off to raise vital funds for our hospice. The framed shirt is a unique opportunity for any football fan to own a piece of history, while also making a meaningful contribution to supporting children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

We are truly grateful to Simon and the team at Globe Air Cargo for their kindness, thoughtfulness, and support of our work. Their donation will help us continue providing specialist care, therapies, and much-needed respite for the families who rely on our services.

Keep your eyes peeled for more details about the raffle and how you can get involved. Whether you are a football enthusiast or simply want to support a great cause, this is your chance to make a difference.

Once again, our heartfelt thanks to Globe Air Cargo for their generosity and to Simon Gent for championing this wonderful initiative. Together, we can continue to create moments that matter for the children and families who need it most.

Need our help?

The word hospice should not seem scary and getting support from us doesn’t have to mean a child’s death is imminent. Helping to enrich the lives of the children and their families is at the heart of our service, our end of life and bereavement support is just a part of what we do.

Our children’s hospice service covers the whole of Berkshire and into surrounding counties. If you think your child may be eligible for our services, please do get in touch.
