Edith

“The support we’ve received from Alexander Devine has been beyond anything we could have ever wished for.”
Steve, Edith’s dad
“On the 8th of July 2023, Edith was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Thankfully, it’s one of the more receptive cancers, meaning she has a good prognosis.
The journey has been full of ups and downs for our family. We’ve had hospital admissions and appointments, weekly blood tests, horrible procedures, and even more horrible chemo and steroids.
Initially, we spoke with Edith’s lead nurse about getting some family support, mainly for her sister Eliza and myself. She referred us to Alexander Devine.
While Edith has been undergoing all these gruelling procedures and medicines, it’s really thrown our family out of sync and taken a toll on our mental health.
Witnessing Edith’s journey through each step of her treatment has been both heart-breaking and incredibly inspiring. It’s difficult to pinpoint whether it’s the treatment itself or the fact that she’s the second child, but her resilience is truly remarkable. Despite the challenges, she’s always managed to keep a smile on her face and be ready to adventure alongside her very supportive big sister Eliza who has been on her own roller coaster during all of this.

The support we’ve received from Alexander Devine has been beyond anything we could have ever wished for. It’s strange to see and hear our children excited to visit a hospice. With things like sibling days, day-care, home visits, music therapy, play therapy, swim sessions, and counselling for myself, who can blame them? This support has gone beyond anything we could have ever imagined.
All of you will forever hold a very special place in the Flower family’s hearts.”
