Christmas Treecycling Raises Over £13,500 For Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice.

Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service is celebrating the success of its 2026 Treecycling initiative, which raised over £13,500 to support babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

Thanks to the generosity of residents across Berkshire, along with the incredible efforts of our volunteers, more than 600 Christmas trees were collected and recycled.

The annual Treecycling initiative offers households a convenient and environmentally friendly way to dispose of their Christmas trees, while raising vital funds for local children and their families. In return for a donation, trees were collected directly from doorsteps by Alexander Devine’s team of dedicated volunteers.

This year’s campaign was made possible with the support of corporate volunteers from Holcim, Siemens, SIXT, Briggs and Bartlett Tree Experts, who joined a wider group of generous volunteers donating their time and energy to the cause.

Once collected, trees were taken to Berkshire College of Agriculture (BCA), where they were chipped and recycled. The chippings are reused across the college grounds and even help care for animals at the BCA Zoo, giving each tree a new lease of life.

Funds raised through Treecycling play a vital role in helping Alexander Devine continue to provide specialist care and support to babies, children and young people, as well as their families, across Berkshire, South Bucks and into surrounding counties.

The 2026 Treecycling campaign was kindly sponsored by VitrX, whose continued support helped ensure the initiative’s success. Vince O’Hanlon, CEO of VitrX, said:

Alexander Devine would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who registered their tree, volunteered their time, or supported Treecycling in any way, helping turn the post-Christmas clean-up into meaningful support for local children and their families.

Need our help?

The word hospice should not seem scary and getting support from us doesn’t have to mean a child’s death is imminent. Helping to enrich the lives of the children and their families is at the heart of our service, our end of life and bereavement support is just a part of what we do.

Our children’s hospice service covers the whole of Berkshire, South Bucks and into surrounding counties. If you think your child may be eligible for our services, please do get in touch.
