Alex Pettyfer is Running the Rome Half Marathon for Alexander Devine – Support His Journey!

We are thrilled to announce that on Sunday, 20th October 2024, the talented British actor Alex Pettyfer will be lacing up his running shoes for a cause close to our hearts.

Alex is participating in the prestigious Rome Half Marathon, a challenging 21.1-kilometre race through one of the world’s most historic and beautiful cities. This isn’t just about the race, though – Alex is running to raise vital funds for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service, and we need your support to make a difference!

Who Are We?

At Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service, our mission is to provide specialist care and support to babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as their families, across Berkshire and surrounding areas.

Our dedicated team offers a holistic service, including overnight respite, day care, care in the children’s own homes, play therapy, music therapy, hydrotherapy, family support, end of life care and bereavement support for families going through unimaginable loss. We aim to provide a safe, loving environment for children to live well.

Our hospice is not just a place of care, but a space for making special memories – where children and families can experience joy and comfort during the most challenging of times. With no cost to the families, the service we provide relies heavily on community support and donations. This is why Alex’s commitment to running the Rome Half Marathon on our behalf is so incredibly important.

About Alex Pettyfer

Alex Pettyfer is an internationally recognised actor, best known for his roles in films such as Stormbreaker, Magic Mike, and I Am Number Four. He has recently finished working on the Guy Ritchie-directed ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’ alongside Henry Cavill, Alan Ritchson and Eiza González and Henry Golding, which was released earlier this year.

While his career on-screen has been exciting, Alex is just as passionate about giving back off-screen. As someone who is dedicated to making a difference, Alex chose to support Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service because of the critical work we do for families who need it most. He is a firm believer in the work we do, and we are a charity that is close to his heart.

Alex has been training hard for the Rome Half Marathon, and his determination mirrors the strength and resilience of the children and families we support. His dedication to our cause shines through, and now he’s inviting you to be part of this journey with him.

The Rome Half Marathon – A Run Through History

The Rome Half Marathon is one of Europe’s most iconic running events. Starting in the heart of the Eternal City, the race winds its way through cobbled streets and past ancient landmarks such as the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Vatican.

It’s a race that combines athletic endurance with breath-taking history, and this year, Alex will be running it with the goal of raising awareness and much-needed funds for Alexander Devine.

Why We Need Your Support

Running a half marathon is no easy feat, but I’m sure he would agree, it pales in significance compared to the daily challenges faced by the babies, children, young people and families we serve.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps us to continue providing our essential care and support. From funding specialist nurses and purchasing new equipment that will increase the diversity of services we can offer to helping us create more magical moments for children, your contribution will have a lasting impact.

By supporting Alex’s run, you are not only helping us continue our work, but you are also giving these children and their families the gift of time—time to be together, to make memories, and to experience the best possible quality of life.

Good Luck, Alex!

Finally, we would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Alex for running this race for us. A man of your stature and following opens our service up to a much wider audience and, on top of the money you raise for us, you have helped us raise awareness of what we do!

Best of luck in the race, we can’t wait to hear how you got on and how the event was!

Need our help?

The word hospice should not seem scary and getting support from us doesn’t have to mean a child’s death is imminent. Helping to enrich the lives of the children and their families is at the heart of our service, our end of life and bereavement support is just a part of what we do.

Our children’s hospice service covers the whole of Berkshire and into surrounding counties. If you think your child may be eligible for our services, please do get in touch.
