Children's Hospice Week 2025
Could you help children like Alice this
Children’s Hospice Week?
Monday 16 June to Sunday 22 June 2025 is Children’s Hospice Week, an annual awareness week for children’s hospice services across the country. This year we are sharing Alice’s story and hope that you will be able to help us be here for her and over 200 babies, children and young people we are currently supporting at Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service.
At six months old, Alice was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1, a rare genetic condition that causes muscle weakness. Alice’s condition means she cannot sit, crawl or walk and is completely dependent on the help of someone else 24 hours a day. Alice is a very happy, loving four-year-old girl but her future is still very uncertain. Her family take everything day by day.

Your support this Children’s Hospice Week would mean so much to
Alice and her family.

“Alice has been involved in classes at the hospice, day care and last year even stayed over at the hospice where she was very impressed by having her own lanyard! For Alice she only knows the hospice as a place to go to have fun and see all her lovely nurse friends. She looks forward to each and every visit.
The hospice staff have been like a family to us, particularly our regular nurse Abi who has built a strong relationship with not only Alice but our whole family. The hospice gives Alice the independence to play and we know that she will receive the best care all whilst having a fantastic day.” Jo, Alice’s Mum
