Summer of Fun

Every child deserves a summer filled with laughter, adventure and memories made that are precious. For families like Tania’s, that joy can feel out of reach… But your support can help change that.

Tania’s brother, Daniel, who is now 16, has been part of the Alexander Devine family for more than 10 years. Daniel was born with a rare heart defect, can only breath through a tracheostomy tube in his throat and is fed by a tube in his stomach. His care needs are complex and constant. He requires a specially trained team to meet his needs at all times.

Daniel’s younger sister, 11 year old Tania has grown up in a world shaped by medical procedures, hospital stays, emergencies and the unpredictability of her brother’s condition. At Alexander Devine, she finally has something for herself.

Sibling support sessions and family fun days run every week throughout the summer, for siblings just like Tania. They are a lifeline, a place to laugh, play, make new friends, and most importantly for Tania, she can be a child. This provides her with an oportunity to bond with other siblings who understand her world, and gives her the carefree summer she deserves.
