Launch of Volunteer Care Programme

Today we celebrated an important milestone for our volunteering family – the launch of our Volunteer Care Programme.

We are very fortunate to have a fantastic team of dedicated volunteers who give their time so generously across so many areas of our charity. One of the areas many of our volunteers have been eager to support is our Alexander Care Team and we are delighted that we can now offer a range of volunteering opportunities with the team. Huge thanks to our fabulous Volunteer Co-ordinator, Debbie Tonkinson, who has worked hard in pulling the programme together, which covers everything from application process, interviews, to training and development.

We were thrilled to be joined today by some of our ‘trail-blazer’ care volunteers to mark the occasion. We are incredibly privileged to have these wonderful people as part of our volunteering family and one of the volunteers, Silvia, told us why she does it:

“I often talk about the sense of belonging and pride I feel whenever I wear my blue Alexander Devine t-shirt, the buzz and excitement when I go off to volunteer…it’s about how I make someone else feel….I hope through fundraising, caring or whatever else I do for Alexander Devine, I can make a difference to these children and their families’ lives and make their world a better place, even if it’s just for a little while”

Need our help?

The word hospice should not seem scary and getting support from us doesn’t have to mean a child’s death is imminent. Helping to enrich the lives of the children and their families is at the heart of our service, our end of life and bereavement support is just a part of what we do.

Our children’s hospice service covers the whole of Berkshire and into surrounding counties. If you think your child may be eligible for our services, please do get in touch.
