Maidenhead solicitors generously offering special Will Week this March

This March, solicitor firm Gardner Leader is generously supporting Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service with a special Will Week to raise vital funds for our local charity.

Between Monday 13th and Friday 17th March, Gardner Leader in Maidenhead is offering people the chance to write or amend their Will in exchange for a suggested donation to Alexander Devine, which supports local children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families.

Gardner Leader is generously offering up to ten consultations during the week. The solicitor firm will write or amend a basic Will and ask those who take up the offer to make a suggested donation to Alexander Devine of around £130 for a basic Will, which could help pay for three hours of specialist care from an Alexander’s Nurse.

Niamh Minihane from Gardner Leader explains how easy it is to write and update your Will.

“Making a Will can often be found on our “to do” lists, eventually making its way to the bottom! Now is the time to actually strike it off your list, and at the same time help a local charity in need of vital funds. It is an easy process and I will endeavour to ensure that your wishes are heard and covered in your Will.”

Niamh went on to explain Gardner Leader’s long-standing support for Alexander Devine:

“Gardner Leader Solicitors is very aware of its corporate social responsibility. As a local firm in Maidenhead, we are very proud to be able to do what we can to help support Alexander Devine. I have had the privilege of visiting the hospice and witnessing the amazing work that every individual involved with the hospice carries out. It is a home from home for many of our local families and friends and we need to do everything we can to ensure that they have the funds that they need, to continue what they do for the future.”

Jenni Green, Lead for Trusts and Legacies at Alexander Devine, thanked Gardner Leader for its support:

“We’re so thrilled that Gardner Leader has partnered with us for this Will Week and we’re very grateful for their generosity. It’s a brilliant opportunity for those who need to write or amend their Will to not only get their affairs in order, but also make a real difference to local children and families that depend on our vital service.

As a charity we rely heavily on the kindness of those across our community as 78% of our income comes from fundraising, donations and gifts in Wills. Every gift made to Alexander Devine, whatever size, can make such a positive difference to those we support.”

Need our help?

The word hospice should not seem scary and getting support from us doesn’t have to mean a child’s death is imminent. Helping to enrich the lives of the children and their families is at the heart of our service, our end of life and bereavement support is just a part of what we do.

Our children’s hospice service covers the whole of Berkshire and into surrounding counties. If you think your child may be eligible for our services, please do get in touch.

Remember our very special Christmas gift from Volvo? 🚗🎁

It’s a gift that really has been making a huge difference to us at Alexander Devine, especially in helping us provide additional support for families like Huzaifah's.

Huzaifah, who is not yet two years old, up until earlier this year had spent just 7 weeks of his life out of hospital. Our team have been supporting the family in trying to keep him safe at home as much as possible, and now we can also help the family with taking him to his hospital appointments for vital treatment.

Using the car meant our Alexander's Nurses and Carers could safely transport Huzaifah along with his wheelchair, additional oxygen cylinders, suction machine and the extra team members we need to keep him safe during the journey.

Thank you Volvo for helping us make even more of a difference to children and families that we support.

With its mesmerising lights and rainbow of colours, our sensory room is a wonderfully calm environment for the babies, children and young people that we support to explore.

After a busy morning splashing in the pool, getting messy in the creative zone or playing outside in the gardens, it’s the perfect place to unwind (for Alexander’s Nurses and Carers too!)
