Lighting the Way: A Shining Success for the Devine Lights Trail
This Christmas, our surrounding communities such as those in Maidenhead, Windsor, Ascot, and Slough came together to create something truly magical – the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service ‘Devine Lights Trail’.
As the nights grew longer over December, 23 wonderful supporters adorned their homes and gardens with stunning light displays, bringing a glow of hope and joy to the winter season.
We are thrilled to announce that the Devine Lights Trail 2024 has raised an incredible £2,819, surpassing our initial target of £2,500. This heart warming achievement would not have been possible without the creativity and generosity of those who participated and supported this illuminating event.
Over 118 people joined us in completing the trail, which guided participants through a dazzling journey of festive lights and imaginative displays. Families, friends, and individuals explored the beautifully lit locations, making it a perfect way to spend a crisp evening while supporting a vital cause. Along the way, trail-goers donated generously, demonstrating once again the incredible spirit of our community.
The creativity shown by our trail hosts was remarkable. From twinkling fairy lights to imaginative themed displays, each home brought its unique flair and brightened up the lives of everyone who visited. This event did more than raise funds; it brought people together and created lasting memories of shared wonder.
Funds raised from the Devine Lights Trail will go directly towards helping us continue to provide essential care and support to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families. At Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service, we rely on the support of our community to keep our services free of charge for those who need them most.
Anne Bajorek, Director of Fundraising at Alexander Devine, expressed her gratitude, saying: “I am absolutely delighted by the success of this year’s Devine Lights Trail. Seeing our community come together in such a beautiful and creative way has been truly heartwarming.”
She continued, “Surpassing our target shows just how much people care about the work we do, and I cannot thank everyone enough for their generosity and support. You have all made a real difference in the lives of the children and families we care for.”
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this success. To the hosts who spent hours decorating their houses, to the trail-goers who braved the cold December evenings, and to all who spread the word and helped us exceed our fundraising goal – thank you.
Your support lights the way for our work and makes an incredible difference to the lives of the babies, children, young people and families we support.
If you missed the chance to take part this year, do not worry – the Devine Lights Trail will return in 2025, and we cannot wait to see it shine even brighter. Whether you want to light up your home, follow the trail, or simply support from afar, there will be plenty of ways to get involved.
Together, we have proven that a little light can go a long way. Thank you for being part of this incredible journey.
