Alexander Devine Brings Much-Loved Pop-Up Shop to the Hospice

The much-loved Alexander Devine Pop-Up Shop is returning this September – but this time, shoppers can browse, bargain hunt and support local families in the gardens of the children’s hospice.

Following the demolition of the Nicholson Centre, where the charity’s popular Pop-Up Shop has previously welcomed hundreds of shoppers, Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service is bringing the event to its hospice gardens in Maidenhead for three special days.

The Pop-Up Shop will open from Thursday 3rd September to Saturday 5th September, from 10am to 4pm, giving the local community the chance to pick up some fantastic pre-loved finds while helping to raise vital funds for the families supported by the charity.

Visitors can browse an incredible selection of pre-loved toys, books, games, puzzles and LEGO, alongside beautiful handmade craft stalls, delicious homemade preserves and refreshments to enjoy while they shop.

The Pop-Up Shop has become a much-loved fixture in the local community, offering an opportunity to find something new to treasure while giving pre-loved items a second life and, most importantly, supporting Alexander Devine’s vital work.

Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service provides specialist care and support to babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and their families, across Berkshire, South Bucks and into surrounding counties.

The charity’s care is made possible thanks to the generosity of its local community. Last year, it cost £3.1 million to run the hospice, with just 18% of funding coming from statutory sources. This means the support of local people, businesses and community groups is vital in helping Alexander Devine continue to provide its specialist care and support.

Every purchase made at the Pop-Up Shop will help the charity continue to be there for families when they need it most.

Richard Johnson, a dedicated volunteer from Alexander Devine said:

The Pop-Up Shop is a brilliant example of how small actions can make a big difference. Whether you’re picking up a pre-loved toy, buying a handmade gift, enjoying a cup of tea or simply coming along to see what’s on offer, every purchase helps us provide vital care and support to local families.

Need our help?

The word hospice should not seem scary and getting support from us doesn’t have to mean a child’s death is imminent. Helping to enrich the lives of the children and their families is at the heart of our service, our end of life and bereavement support is just a part of what we do.

Our children’s hospice service covers the whole of Berkshire, South Bucks and into surrounding counties. If you think your child may be eligible for our services, please do get in touch.
